A bit of a dilemma coming up. I did an interview a few weeks back for an Australian magazine on vintage - am looking forward to it, as the writer is a novelist who loves the 1920s era herself, both the literature and the characters. They want to do a photo shoot this week to accompany the story, and I need to pull out one of my vintage outfits.
Now…do I do “everyday” smart 1920s, or OTT 1920s glam? I’m inclined towards the latter, as it’s rather fun even if it doesn’t go with how most people wear “vintage”. I thought this coat might be the way to go as it’s so very theatrical, and I adore the lamé textiles of the period. I have a gold and black lamé dress to wear it over, and can put on one of the more elaborate 1920s headdresses/bandeau, gold shoes and my favourite gold sautoir knecklace. It will be all very dramatic, but quite unmistakably 1920s. (Haven’t really photographed this coat properly).
Or…should I wear colour? Would that photograph better? Perhaps one of my green beaded gowns?

I love this coat, but the idea of color seems appropriate, green beaded dress…yes!

I think the first outfit is flawless? Even if it doesn’t photograph as well as brighter things, it’s amazing and wonderful. ;_;
