I quite like Miriam Cooper’s bio - it’s neither brilliant nor insightful, but she can be delightfully bitchy. I love the story about one actress her husband, Raoul Walsh, fancied. Raoul hated intoxication in women, and this woman was careful not to drink around him. So Miriam invited her over early, and fixed her a drink…pouring every alcoholic ingredient in that she possibly could. By the time Raoul arrived, she was completely soused, and that was the end of the flirtation.
