C. 1890s Caroline Reboux capelet.
Reboux (1837–1927) is best known today as a milliner - and is very much associated with the cloche - but she also designed couture clothing, opening her first store in Paris in 1865. Among her famous clients she dressed the Empress Eugénie (but we won’t hold that against her!).
This piece is fabulous - even my non-vintage family members love it, and think it would look brilliant worn with jeans and a cami. I have another Reboux piece of clothing, but none of her hats.
